The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is devoted to supporting families affected by autism spectrum disorders through exceptional clinical services, innovative scientific research and high-quality training. The UW Autism Center Clinical Program is one of the largest service providers for autism spectrum disorders in the region, and is considered a national and international leader. UWAC is part of the Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD) at the UW and incorporates faculty and staff from the UW School of Medicine, College of Arts & Sciences, and College of Education.

The UWAC Seattle Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time licensed behavior analyst (BCBA). This individual will work among a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech-language pathologists, BCBAs, faculty, graduate students, and pre- and post-doctoral fellows. They will provide clinical services to individuals with autism spectrum disorders, including designing, implementing and modifying direct intervention and instructional programs for children, adolescents, and adults with autism using evidence-based interventions. Opportunities to develop new programs are available and encouraged and this position will report directly to the Director of Clinical Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Duties

• Provide individual skills training for children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorders. • Supervise behavioral technicians who work with clients in their homes or a clinic setting. • Collaborate with other clinical team members in assessment and intervention. • Consult with other members of clinical team regarding diagnosis and intervention strategies, as needed. • Meet minimum of 60% billable expectation (24 hours of billable time each 40-hour week). • The clinical work for this position will be closely supervised by the Director of Clinical Services. This may include but is not limited to regular meetings (up to weekly), annual client meetings, annual reviews, and other more informal check in opportunities. Additional, on-site support may be provided and recommended based on experience.

Programmatic Duties

• Participate in community activities and events. • Attend weekly staff meetings, other meetings as necessary. • Complete paperwork within required time frame and meet assigned deadlines. • Provide consultation to community providers who work with patients in order to develop continuity in care for the patient and their family. • Keep appropriate records of services provided and coordinate with the billing office and direct supervisor regarding services to meet billable expectations. • Complete initial client/patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner. • Supervise undergraduate and graduate practicum students and volunteers and evaluate their performance. • Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in education or related field. • BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) Certification. • 2-3 years of experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS • Obtain initial 8 hour supervision CE required by the BACB. • Acquire 3 Supervision CEs per Certification Cycle. • Experience teaching and designing programs for students with autism spectrum disorders, including collaboration with general education teachers, school administrators, related services personnel and outside community providers. • Please note that this position requires frequent traveling to multiple client homes daily, several times a week; the ability and flexibility to reliably travel to alternate work locations is critical. • Access to vehicle for commuting to and from place of work to other sites. • Licensure and certification, if appropriate to the field (e.g., LBA – Licensed Behavior Analyst, BCBA – Board Certified Behavior Analyst).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience teaching and designing workshops on topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorders. • Comfortable presenting to large groups of other professionals. • Experience assessing behavior and synthesizing results in a written report. • An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building. • Ability to exercise independent judgment, negotiate multi-layered regulatory systems, manage competing priorities, strong organization skills.
