Development has an exciting opening for an Executive Director for Annual Philanthropy. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Executive Director will have demonstrated experience in institutional development and fundraising that includes annual philanthropy, along with progressive leadership experience. What You Will Do: Strategic Leadership (50%)
• Design, build and continuously improve a leading-edge annual philanthropy program that broadens the donor base and strengthens the major and planned giving pipeline. • In partnership with the University Marketing & Communications team, develop a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. • Partner across the University to establish annual philanthropy as a core program and engagement opportunity, partnering across the University. • In collaboration with the Philanthropic Recognition Programs team, develop a robust, multi-faceted stewardship strategy for annual donors. • Work in partnership with the Analytics team to identify and evaluate new sources of data to inform engagement, communication and solicitation strategies.
Campus Partnerships and Engagement (30%)
• Partner with schools, colleges, programs and campuses to design and execute creative solicitation strategies that support each area’s vision and priorities. • Collaborate with individuals and teams throughout the University — as well as with outside vendors — to access both established and new sources of data for analytics. • Work strategically with the Alumni Stakeholder Engagement and Prospect Development teams to develop a comprehensive donor pipeline with integrated engagement analytics.
Team Management (20%)
• Lead and manage the annual philanthropy team, including providing guidance and recommendations for team structure, growth and development.
Relationship Management (15%)
• Conduct regular meetings with fundraisers and their supervisors to review and revise individual prospect strategies and stewardship plans. • Participate in strategic planning for campaigns.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience that includes annual philanthropy.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:
• Experience with complex market segmentation strategies and execution across a variety of channels. • Experience developing, supervising and leading a team within a complex, matrixed organization. • Proven experience working effectively with multiple stakeholders in support of shared goals and objectives. • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and creating a safe, welcoming, inclusive work environment where creativity is encouraged and collaboration is expected. • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
