UW Medicine Primary Care - Referral Coordination has an outstanding opportunity for a Referral Specialist. WORK SCHEDULE

  • Temporary position - 8 months

  • Part-time, 80% FTE (32 hours per week)

  • Opportunity to provide career growth PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates with team members to manage multiple work queues within Epic related to referrals from all UWM Primary Care clinic locations. Ensures that pending issues receive appropriate follow up with the patient, insurance company and/or receiving specialist and advises referring providers and/or patients of the status of the request

  • Works independently with patients, referring/prescribing providers, specialty clinic providers and staff to facilitate referrals to the UW Medicine Health System and to process prior authorizations

  • Pre-verify and submit required paperwork and receive authorization with third party insurance companies to assist in making referrals to specialty providers and/or processing prior authorizations

  • Manages telephone encounters, faxes, staff messages and eCare messages related to referrals and prior authorization requests and questions.

  • Partnering with all members of the clinic team to prioritize patient satisfaction and exceptional care delivery

  • Other duties as requested REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND

  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a medical facility

  • Strong computer, phone skills, and EPIC experience preferred OR
